Iran Says US Deal Draft Still Unapproved, Warns It Could Withdraw
Saeed Ajorlou stated in remarks broadcast on Iranian state television that, as of Friday night, the final text had not been formally endorsed, although he described the remaining differences between the sides as limited.
He said that if the agreement is ultimately approved, a 60-day phase of detailed discussions would follow to address implementation issues.
“If the final text is approved, we will enter a 60-day process of discussions on the details,” he said, noting that the draft includes 14 articles, each accompanied by annexes requiring further negotiation.
Ajorlou emphasized that the practical implementation of the deal would be more significant than the wording itself, particularly in relation to access to Iranian financial assets and the fulfillment of obligations by the other party.
He added that the proposed framework includes mechanisms allowing Iran to withdraw if the terms are violated.
According to him, potential grounds for exit could include breaches of a ceasefire, failure to release Iranian funds, or non-compliance with maritime-related commitments.
