Israeli Airstrikes Hit Beirut Suburbs Amid Ceasefire Tensions
Warplanes struck the Dahiyeh area without any prior warning, with an Anadolu reporter stating that two separate explosions were heard and smoke was later seen rising from the targeted locations.
According to reports, the Israeli military said in a statement that the strikes were directed at a site linked to Hezbollah in the area.
The attack followed calls made earlier in the day by Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who urged airstrikes on Dahiyeh after two Hezbollah drone attacks in northern Israel, even though a ceasefire has been in place since April 17.
Israel has continued its military operations in Lebanon since March 2, including an ongoing bombing campaign and the occupation of several towns in the southern part of the country.
According to Lebanese authorities, the conflict has resulted in more than 3,700 deaths, around 11,500 injuries, and the displacement of over 1.5 million people since the escalation began on March 2.
